Wildcats Win NBC Championship

5/12/17 - The Woodmore middle school girls track and field team edged out three other Northern Buckeye Conference schools to win the NBC championship with 93 points in a meet hosted by Rossford.  Eastwood was second with 88 points, followed by Otsego with 85 and Genoa with 82.  The girls team had only one league champion, but scored points in every event except the 100. The lone league champion was Ava Beam (8th grade) who won the 1600 running a time of 5:46.02.  Beam also picked up one of two second-place finishes.  She was the runner-up in the 800 with a time of 2:40.61.  Sidney Gillig (8th grade) was second in the pole vault clearing 6-6.  Woodmore had seven third-place finishes.  Brooke Allen (8th grade) was third in the shot put (31-3), Sidney Wank (7th grade) was third in the 100 hurdles (18.63), Olivia Thatcher (8th grade) was third in the 1600 (5:54.70) and 800 (2:41.82), Greta Bauder (8th grade) was third in the 400 (1:05.73). Makenna Book (8th grade) was third in the 200 (30.17), and the 400 relay foursome of Paige Travis (8th grade), Book, Autumn Beaudoin (8th grade), and Samantha Schaub (8th grade) were third in a time of 57.25.  Other placers (top eight in each events score teams points) included: Sierra Cantley (8th grade) in the discus (6th, 65-11), Grace Rosenberger (8th grade) in the long jump (8th, 13-0 1/2), Julia Cable (8th grade) in the high jump (4th, 4-2), Beaudoin in the pole vault (7th, 5-6), Wank in the 200 hurdles (6th, 35.34), and Bauder in the 200 (6th, 30.51).  The 1600 relay group of Wank, Beam, Thatcher, and Bauder finished fourth in a time of 4:48.18 and the 800 relay of Travis, Book, Gillig, and Schaub was sixth in a time of 2:05.04.
